Perhaps it makes me a nerd (ha, as if there was any doubt)...but I had a favorite word growing up: "serendipity." Therefore, it gives me great pleasure to use this word now in a sentence.
"It was serendipitous that I didn't have a sketchbook yesterday morning; instead, all I had was my planner with lines which turned out to work nicely as a musical staff over the piano."
Do you have a favorite word?
Eclectic. Just love the sound of it -- meaning is kind of cool, too! In a sketchbook, in a planner, on a napkin... whatever you draw on it all looks great!
ReplyDeleteI like "eclectic" too Lynne. Just like you said, it not only sounds cool, but is cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm fond of "slackjawed," for reasons I can't explain. I once had a Russian woman ask me to define the word "actually." This was because it was a kind of a linguistic tic for me. "Actually, there's still some milk in the refrigerator," I'd say - things like that. But when she asked me what "actually" meant in that context, I was dumbstruck. Not to mention slackjawed.
ReplyDeleteExcellent sketch, Suzanne.
Cool drawing -- again, very confident lines.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite word, i think (though it might be subject to change tomorrow) is PAMPLEMOUSSE.
Means grapefruit in French. And i don't know, it is much friendlier than the fruit itself (which i never liked).
In English, i kinda like HENCE. What a cool word.
'galfridian'. that is, to do with geoffrey of monmouth. best word.
ReplyDeletei like "Onirique". Dreamlike in french.
ReplyDeleteBOLACHA!
ReplyDeletebolacha = cookie in portuguese
Thanks so much for all your words! I don't feel so alone in my nerdiness anymore. Great choices!!!!!! I'll try to use them all in sentences soon :)
ReplyDeleteI've had a favorite for years..."calliope". Saturday morning cartoons come to mind as they were often featured in WB toons. I haven't otgrown the word or the cartoons!
