I've not be doing great work the last two days. I'm going to attribute it to the rain. Normally, I love rain. I like the fact that it restricts you to being indoors, where it is cozy. I also love to drink hot tea. But, yesterday and today I haven't been feeling it. Instead, I'm getting that sad, weepy feeling a lot of people experience. That isn't nearly as fun.
For lunch today I went to Panera so I could draw. Wow, was it full of great characters to sketch....only my sketch doesn't capture this. I guess I just wasn't feeling it. But, I'm going to just call this a trial run as I will be going back and sketching the lunch line again.
Oh, a few notes about this drawing. 1) Yes, the guy in line really was that tall..wow. I think he stood about 2.5 feet above the little old lady in front of him. 2) I'm sure the ladies sitting toward the left would not be happy if they say their portrait....lets just say the "not feeling it" was setting in about the time I got to them. 3) Finally, if anyone wants to buy me a present, how about a new scanner? I must have the worst one on the market.

First, I'm stunned at how good your work is even when you're "not feeling it". It's balanced, proportional, and has solid, beautiful lines. Second, it's good to be persistant, especially on days like today. Keep it up! I love stopping by here and checking out your stuff- it inspires me.
Your scanner, though it may not be a good one, makes your work look lovely. If you get a new one, think of the parises you may receive. I love to see your sketches. Thanks for sharing them.
i hope it wasn't the sight of me that caused the "not feeling it" to set in. thanks for sharing your work with me--that was a beautiful surprise. i was kind of lost in thought, like you said.

I am an illustrator and I check in to some of these EDM and other sketching blogs on a daily basis. Yours has become my favourite - I love the style and line of your work. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing these drawings. One day I'll get around to doing it myself!

this is such a hard thing to do! you hardly get started on someone before they move, plus I get so self conscious sometimes drawing in public and looks like you were surrounded! so I think you did a terrific job!
I've been visiting but not commenting much, also loved the drawing of your dog.
First of all, i could tell it was Panera right away! What a great spot to sketch people! I should try that more. It takes guts to put so many people all at once in one drawing -- you did it so well. Secondly, i'm going to get this one out of the way: scanners suck. Mine is new and still frustrates the heck out of me sometimes.
I'm sorry you've been feeling sad the last couple of days. I love rain, too, but I admit it's been hard to get all that excited about sketching indoors. Once I got started, though, I fell in love as I often do. Your sketch is just amazing, in spite of your blues.
Suzanne - I have to chime in and say that your blog is one of my favorites, too! You may not have been feeling it in this one, but I still love the results. You have a wonderful sense of line, and a looseness and flow that I wish I could master.
It's interesting how everyone in the picture looks the way you described feeling. Everyone looks kind of sad and lost. I hope you're feeling better by now. I agree with everyone else's comments about how wonderful your work is.
