camera collection : take three

dejua model d-100

I don't know about you, but I a chronic project-starter. I love coming up with ideas! In fact, I consider this is my strongest skill as a designer and teacher. Following through with the ideas....well, that tends to a different story. Note that I didn't say I'm a chronic project-finisher. It's my Achilles' heel (should I be sharing this?) and something I intend to work on (wait, was that another project I just started?!?).

Anyway, this is all to say that this camera/wallpaper project has been a different experience for me. I drew the first of the cameras way back in July. And though I've been slow in my process, it is a project I enjoy more and more with time. Rather than getting bored or in a hurry to finish, it's something I actually like lingering on. It's strange, but very gratifying.

How about you? Are you a project-starter?
Do you enjoy the process or the results more?

up for debate

Perhaps it goes back to hours I spent as an undergraduate in a printmaking studio, but I really enjoy 'offsetting' illustrations when rendering them in photoshop. Like with my good friend, Blind Contour (have you met?), I find the resulting 'imperfections' beautiful. But, I wonder if it is the same for you... Which leads me to the question : What rendering style resonates the most with you?

Option A : in the lines (above)?
Option B : outside the lines [offset] (below)?
Option C : doesn't make a hill of beans difference...quit your rambling Suzanne!

camera collection : take one

revere eye-matic
The first in a little series I've been working on since...oh, July.  My favorite illustrations are all of either cameras or typewriters.  I've decided it's time I try my hand out at both.  I'm thinking about 10 of these little jewels, repeated, could make a pretty nifty wallpaper pattern...  Let's see if I can get there.

relaxed

I thought of a name for this series this morning: "Airing Dirty Laundry" Now, just to clarify, that's "dirty" is the steamy way, not dirty in the unhygienic one... I've drawn that kind of dirty before, but am not so inspired by it now :)

flirty

A couple of days ago Karen at Pen in Hand suggested that I get a job at the J. Peterman catalog. While I was unfamiliar with the catalog before Karen's comment, I have now officially added this to my "Unofficial LIst of Dream Jobs". Here are some others:
Luckily, I already have a dream job...but just in case, it's important to have options :)

saucy

With this post I solemnly swear to never, ever, ever draw leopard print again. My hand is still cramped.
