Such a cool topic!! I love this little guy! And i like the touch of orange (my computer screen shows it as orange) in the ribbon. You know, there's this skeleton (he has a name, but i forgot it) in one of the biology classrooms in my school -- i think that's going to be my answer to this one!!!!!

France- You should go for it! Aren't skeletons cool? I love learning about how forensic artists can reconstruct faces based on the skull alone. Amazing. Phillip- Why thanks! I did feel a little Tim Burtonish while drawing this. Tommy and Mithi- Glad you like Virgil. Nancy- I try to erase as little as possible. This is why most of the time I draw in pen...so that I'm not tempted. In this case, however, I started with light pencil marks to define the volume, then marker to get the shadows and finally, pen for the details.
This is lovely Suzanne, it is so well drawn. And as you have said that it is drawn in pen I am even more impressed at your abilities. Do you feel like you've improved (your drawing skills) since you began this blog? I take it that you have increased the amount of drawing you do since you started it - so do you think it has made a difference? Do you feel like you have grown?
Andrea- Great question! Yes, I feel like I am getting better with practice. While I have always drawn, this blog and comments from others is definitely encouraging me to step it into high gear. I feel like by the shear volume of drawings I am doing I am finally beginning to figure out what my personal style is and I am getting faster at capturing the essence of something. I have been and will continue to recommend blogging as a tool for growth in this regard.
Gosh Suzanne, i have to agree with your last response. I feel very much the same about my capacity to capture the essence of something. And skeletons are WAY cool -- yours does look Burton-esque!
