saturday morning decisions

It's 5:15 am; a time I don't particularly enjoy and, thankfully, rarely have to see. Unfortunately, however, this morning I have a strange case of insomnia...one I link to too much fun with markers last night. I'm not sure if this is a true scientific explanation, but, nevertheless, it's one that pleases me.

So, I've been running through my head for the last hour or so the activities I could get out of bed and do:

1. Wash Dishes - I hate getting up to dirty dishes. This way I could get the dirty dishes out of the way, go back to sleep and wake up to clean dishes. However, this is too loud of an activity for the early morning.

2. Walk Pokey - It's too dark. I don't feel safe.

3. Clean the House - Do I really want to be cleaning during the 5 o'clock hour on a Saturday?

4. Read - The book I'm reading (a translation from Spanish to English) requires far more brainpower than I have at this hour.

5. Work - A girl's got to create some limits....

Following this stream of consciousness I gravitated here and decided I'd go ahead and post a few of the drawings that "caused" this early debut. Hope you enjoy...but not at this hour!

Whew...I'm so glad I can simply sit back and enjoy your sketches! I do enjoy your drawings...you are so prolific lately and I like it...you seem out of the slump from a while back and right up here with vengeance! Great work.

You should have called me -- I, too, was up at the crack of well before dawn for no good reason. I used it to clean, though. FINALLY have my office all cleaned and hyper-organized. Feels amazing! Now on to cleaning the rest of the house. I fear that I only have a few good hours left in me before I completely collapse! Really enjoyed your drawings during this little break in the cleaning action, though! Thanks!

Wow these are all brilliant Suzanne. I can't even say I like one best. The colours of the botle picture are great. I just love the way you create your pictures; it seems effortless. Like it just flows out of your pens. This is an all round great post. I'm jealous!!

By the way - did Pokey have a little trouble sticking to his diet?

Thanks so much for your comments this morning Ronell. I think I've finally gotten out of the slump too...and it feels wonderful!

Lynne - Believe me, if I'd have known you were up, I probably would have called... How about tomorrow a.m.? :)

Andrea - I'm afraid that Pokey, like me, has a hell of a time sticking to a diet. But at least we've been consistent in our exercising!

Refreshing - that's what I meant to say. Highly worked pieces are all well and good, and that is really what I create myself. But your work makes a refreshing change to all that. That's what your work (and a visit to your blog) is. Refreshing.

Being a career insomniac I know what you went through and sympathise! Recently I've found a new occupation for those wee hours ... visiting blogs ... :) Really like the work with those markers, that wine bottle is terrific, love the decorative background.

Ha! These are delightful, Miss Suzanne! I'm sorry you were tossing and turning and so wakeful when you'd rather have been sleeping. I usually get up a little past 5am, but it's difference when preference is involved.
Btw, thanks for your offer about sketching in your classes--what a great idea!
It would be wonderful to meet and sketch together this summer, don't you think?

Wonderful reading and drawings on your post today. A lot of us can relate to the tossing and turning... now just hearing that alone makes you feel much better, right?

I can totally relate to the getting up early and cleaning part. The part that blows me away is the simplicity with which you seem to whip up these sketches with markers, no less. Brilliant little things.

I woke up at 3:30 this morning and wasn't able to get back to sleep so I decided to catch up on my blogging. Hope I don't fall asleep during a client meeting later! I've been so busy I feel like I've lost touch with everyone.
