early inspirations

I've been working the past few days on a small promotional mailer. In it I'm including a short bio in which I explain that I began drawing at 18 months old. My first drawing (which is currently lost somewhere in my parents' attic) was a turkey. I'm not exactly sure why I chose this subject; perhaps its just what inspired me at the time! Here's the illustration that goes along with the story.

I love this. And I think a turkey is a fine first drawing.

Okay -- so this is really weird -- I have a picture (mom claims was one of my first) drawn also at age 18 months... of a bird. A bird with a bellybutton.

She gave it to me a few years ago. It's framed on the wall of my study. If I could figure out how to scan it without having to undo the framing I would. How funny is that? Looks like avian inspiration was everywhere! :-) LOL!

Not quite the portrait I expected, but you still look cute. The turkey looks almost good enough to eat *wink*

Perfect! ...and adorable. Are you going to show a progression from that stage to current in your promotional materials? Or a then and now? Very clever!
