the hot seat

If this sketch looks familiar, there's a reason.

This morning I made a quick stop at Barnes and Noble to flip through some design magazines and sketch. Tucked away in a corner of the store is a seating area furnished with six overstuffed chairs. This is one of my favorite spots to sketch as I can always find someone to draw who is completely engrossed in their reading and oblivious of my existence. I've done it several times as you can see here and here.

Turns out that today's gentleman was interested in reading about PCs..."PC Answers" to be exact. While I was definitely tempted to spread the gospel of the mac with my model, I decided to sit back and draw instead.

beautiful sketch. It'd be great as a huge series of people sitting at b&n.

Brilliant. As were the two prvious posts. I'd love to do this kinda thing. I just don't have the nerve - well that and this kind of skill. An excellent drawing.

Very nice drawing! Good idea to draw people who are reading. When I draw people, they tend to walk away! :)

Barnes and Noble is a great place with those nice comfy chairs. You would not want to draw me because I always doze off while looking at art books. I try not to drool all over myself though.

Wow, Suzanne, you have such a fun blog! I draw people mainly on trains, and you do it in bookstores, that's great! Love this sketch--perfectly portrays that relaxed reading style of certain people!

probably a good idea to just draw. i get in more arguements with my dad & husband regarding the pros/cons of macs vs. pcs. no win for both parties because so few are willing to convert to the other religion.

nice drawing. i so admire your skills drawing people. freaks me out.
