Q: What's better than tacos and beer?
A: $1 tacos and $1.50 beers.
Each and every Tuesday night Edgar and I meet our friends at a little Mexican restaurant nearby for this special. This simple routine is just one of many small things that add up to make my life full and something I hope we continue to do for a long, long time.

It is the little things that make it all good, isn't it?
well, curry and beer is better, but i would say that, i'm from london...
but mexican sounds goood right now. very nice pic, i really like this style.
okay, i am yet again jealous of you. pre-kids, our favorite date night included $3 margaritas with chips and salsa. AND we used to have friends that weren't our kids' friends' parents! UGH!
Seriously though, fantastic sketches as usual. Love the bottle label.
Love this blog!
I just love these latest sketches at the taco place. The bottom one in particular strikes me: where i would have hesitated, you just went right ahead and drew confident lines, and added really cool colors.
So inspiring. Thanks!
I had to smile when i read your comment on Andrea's latest as well.
We use to have a tavern in the town we came from that had that same offer. Then it became so popular that we couldn't even get in ...... uh, too much of a good thing. Love your drawings of your friends.
I'm loving what you do with the markers, Suzanne. In fact, inspired by your marker success, I bought a few (OK, I bought a giant set that was very expensive) and tried them out on some panels in one of Moleskines. After using watercolor and colored pencil it was completely frightening, but also sort of emboldening. But I didn't get the results you're getting.
Your restaurant drawings are very good...but the poor lady really did not enjoy her meal...and there is nothing like hot tacos and ice cold beer.
brilliant. i wish we had Mexican restaurants here. there's only one chain which you find in every town but it's not REAL Mexican food - if you know what I mean?
it feels like your drawings have changed direction recently. i think that's the addition of colour. whatever it is it's working. they are SO good. SOOO good.
Suzanne -- I love what you do with the markers. It's such a perfect, loose splash of color. Even simple images like the oregano bag come out looking fabulous!
And Andrea -- I once had what passed for Mexican food at a pub in York... >shudder!< and frankly it's not an experience I would like to repeat. Wait until you come to the U.S. to get something much closer to the "real thing."
