Today's a big day. It's my birthday! Well, not exactly my birthday per se, but "an open [sketch]book's" birthday.
One year...wow, this is quite an accomplishment considering the fact that a year ago I was hoping to keep it up for just 21 days. The truth is, however, that it has become an addiction. Unlike working out or dieting, drawing is something I love and, therefore, is not something I feel forced to do...it is something I WANT to do.
I'll admit I still cringe a little when telling people I have a "blog." The word just sounds so goofy coming out of my mouth. I don't, however, hesitate in telling how much it has pushed me to do more and get better. This outlet has introduced me to so many lovely and talented people all across the world...YOU! Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. On days when I'm feeling particularly uncreative, your comments motivate me and for this I am SO grateful.
As a way to say thanks I'm going to be doing some fun stuff this week, so please stay tuned. In the meantime, have a cupcake on my behalf!

Well I probably found your blog around about last August (I din't realise that it was so young back then!). I had become a little obsessed by reading people's blogs but I did not know about drawing blogs. Then one day when I was Googling my time away I came caros Jana's blog. I was hooked - it was like a revelation; people drawing and talking about drawing and showing their drawings. Wow! Finally I realised her blogroll was a list of other artists and spent hours wondering through that. Your blog really blew my socks off. I loved your subject matter and your style. It really inspired me to start my own. I remember seeing your 'EDM draw a group of similar things' (the body lotions, still one of my all time faves that I've seen on any blog anywhere) and I thought I want to be a part of this!! Really. I still love your work just as much - even more - today.
Oh and I know exactly what you mean about telling people you have a blog - I very quickly follow it by 'it's a DRAWING blog'. Somehow that makes it all right.

Oh wow, Suzanne... Tomorrow (July 17) is the anniversary of my blog. I had no idea we had started our respective blogs within a couple of days of each other.
Your blog is one of the very few i visit even when i am in non-blog mood, or i don't have time (because i should be grading papers, etc!!). Your bright ideas, Pokey, Edgar, your confident lines -- they've become part of my daily routine. Thank you!
