EDM Challenge: My Sink

I've been skipping over this EDM challenge for a while. I can think of few drawings less exciting than the kitchen sink. However, night before last, when Edgar and I were sitting in the kitchen, talking and avoiding doing the dishes it seemed like the perfect time to turn my attention towards it...and it really wasn't that bad afterall.

By the way, the subject of our conversation was..."have you ever thought about the fact you will likely be washing dishes everyday for the rest of your life AND what would it be like to be a celebrity and NEVER have to do your own dishes?" Not exactly deep thoughts...but I'm ok with that.

Great drawing Suzanne, it reminds me of my kitchen sink - which always seems to be full of dishes. Maybe if I draw them they will go away...probably not.

I really envy your ability to capture the ordinary and make it so interesting. Love your loose line work and subtle colors.

Zeke, Ester, Lynne, Brian and Juj-
Thanks so much for your comments. I'm really enjoying going back to the EDM challenges...which I haven't been drawing for quite a while.

Brian- The gray is a Chartpak marker. It's such a quick way to add a little life to a drawing.

Cool cool drawing. Aaah I was going to ask what you'd put the colour in with. Marker - wow, that sounds a little scary.

Apart from your drawings so spontaneous and so beautiful, and your nice handwriting, I love your humour!

OOOh, i love this one! Funny thoughts you added. I actually kinda like doing dishes. So much so that i've never used my dishwasher. Ever.

lovely work and hits home with all of us about dishwashing - we have a dishwasher but so much won't fit in like big plates, a favourite big pan .... grrrrr! so i still end up washing stuff.

I love doing dishes, especially in the morning. Right now I have a sink full of them that I'm looking forward to washing at the same time that I get my weekly phone call to my mom out of the way (thanks to my phone headset). Dishes are a good way to procrastinate doing things that are harder, like going to the gym or starting a new painting. On the other hand, drawing the dishes is even better than doing them and your drawing is terrific, as always.

Jana- You can definitely come do dishes at my house. I can't believe you enjoy them in the morning...there is nothing I hate more than waking up to dirty dishes!

A wonderful sketch of your sink! I'm not a dishes person at all, so I stack that dishwasher as quick as I've finished using a piece...nothing can depress me more than seeing dishes waiting for me!

Great darwing, I love the touch of red!!
It looks just like the sink I left this morning and there's NO chance it'll be clear when I get home. Not unless the dogs have learned a new trick.

Grat job!!!

Looks oddly familiar.... : ) Wonder if Paris Hilton and Donald Trump have ever had dishwater hands...NAAA!!

Splendid drawing. You actually make the ordinary look interesting. I am going to add your blog to my list of links on my blog!
