Here are a few sketches I've made of the students in my class. In each of these I feel like I was able to capture some qualities of each person, but definitely not all. Specifically, defining the chin and forehead gave me trouble.
And oh, poor Sarah...she is so much prettier than I drew her...unfortunately, I started out with her eye too big (or the rest of her face too little) and could never recover!

You are really brave to do all your sketches with PEN, and they are all so good. I can't do without my eraser, especially with portraits!

Thanks for all your comments! To answer the pen question: No, normally I wouldn't attempt to draw this kind of portrait with a pen...however, being the bad student, er professor, that I am...I forgot to bring a pencil to class (or for that matter, a big sketchbook) and therefore had to work in pen and small. This is the reason behind all the crosshatching. It was the only way I could make the profile look clean.
Oh Suzanne, to be able to draw portraits like you would be a dream come true!
I love these...whether they're perfect resemblances or not, they're wonderfully expressive drawings!
These are all fantastically done. Great character and lovely line work. I have no idea who these people are, but I'm guessing there's a good likeness...
