working with nature

I've gotten to work quite a bit with watercolors here recently. I'm happy for this expericence as I was beginning to forget just how much I love the medium. This is the finished image of a piece I did for one of my sister's clients. No longer am I working with joshua trees, but instead the Angel Oak Tree in South Carolina. If you aren't familiar this amazing artifact, you might like to check it out.

Also, I'm going to include some of my process sketches here...if for no other reason than to reinforce their importance to my students :)

Thank you for sharing your work process. You are as always supertalented in every technique, Suzanne. About Pokey: My newborn baby have a fever and I was up all night. Suddenly I started singing -"It's the season to be chubby, fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la!" after reading your blog at 2am :-)and it worked. I had a smile on my face. Thanks for helping out :-D

Wow, that's beautiful! I love trees, but everything about them, from their branches to the leaves, gives me fits when I try to draw them. So I'm always filled with admiration when people can get it right. :)
