a tale of two andreas

I have two Andreas to thank for this drawing. First, I want to thank Andrea of Big Gay Dragon who provided me with the subject matter. Fourteen Red Pens...what a perfect Valentine's Giveaway! Second, I want thank Andrea Joseph whose work I thought about the whole time I was drawing. I kept asking myself..."What would Andrea do?" I guess I channeled the second Andrea pretty well as only afterwards did I remember that she had completed a very, very similiar composition a little over a year ago.

Thanks Andreas!

I need to get a shirt made up that says that and wear it every day! Haha!

Glad the pens arrived and that you are enjoying them!

i see more sharpies!! you are clearly the sharpie queen!

i also see some papermate felt tips. another favorite! i just bought a set of five in purple, lime green, electric blue, hot pink, and ... ready for this ... ORANGE (imagine that?!). love, love, love them.

these are, as always, awesome drawings. the tight crosshatching is amazing!

Haha! I had a split second of confusion there thinking I'd come to the wrong blog ... Suzanne? AndreaJoseph? Confused! They look great by the way, and thanks for the mention on your students blog .... very flattered ... and embarrased... ;)

When I hear kids complain about having to draw boxes for the umpteenth time, I'll tell them to read this post and see what great art can be made from ordinary objects like pens. :)

Love this new sketch! I especially liked the way you crosshatch to color in the pens.

I hope you don't mind, but I added you to my Blogroll.

Fantastic! I have a gazillion pens, but not this many in such a fun, non-black, color! What fun, to receive a whole bunch in red! :)

And, I like the new banner. Maybe this will inspire me to finish off my new one ... [sigh]

Oh my gosh! Firstly, I am blushing. A lot. Secondly, these are way WAY better than mine! Brilliant drawing. Really very cool. Loving that hatching. *blush blush*

Wow, these are great! The lines are so clean and perfect. :D I'm curious though, did you actually use these pens to hatch in their sketched counter-parts?

Hot damn. I am looking at this on my iPhone, and at first sight, I had to wonder if it was a photograph. Gorgeous pens. What a great homage to these indispensable companions.
And I am digging your new blog banner, Suzanne. What font is that? It is way neat.

excellent drawing Suzanne but i must confess something: i hate Sharpies, the ink changes color over time. they're anything but permanent. now that i got that out of my chest let me also say that your new banner is really cool, cheers!
