master of the ballpoint pen

On Friday I came home from work to find a package in my mailbox. It wasn't just any package either...as the beautiful script immediately revealed, it was a gift from Andrea Joseph.Packed neatly in the envelope was the most splendid of wedding presents... You may have seen it a few days ago on Andrea's blog or her incredible flickr photostream. (If you haven't be sure to visit Flickr where you can see it larger!) Evidently this student is both very bored in class and very much in love.
If you take time to look beyond the incredible wood grain (believe me, I know) you may notice a few hidden messages.  For example...Does it get more special than this? I think not.

It's been said before, but let me repeat it...there is nothing like seeing an Andrea Joseph original in person. I always advise my students to avoid using ballpoint pen..."the strokes aren't as nice, you don't get solid coverage, it fades into the background, blah, blah, blah"...but Andrea totally calls my bluff. She's a master....and evidently, from this drawing, a student too...  I guess she can be both if she wants to be.

Thank you Mrs. Weller!
I am honored by your talent and thoughtfulness.

Eeek. I can't tell you much I'm blushing here. Thank you for the kind words. And, of course, the inspiration.

Oh, and I did put your wedding date on it too. I don't know if you can see it - somewhere, amongst all the mess.

Cool beans is right! Gosh Suzanne, NOW I see the hidden messages carved in the wood. And I agree about Andrea's mastery of the ballpoint pen.
