I can't really take credit for this sketch. It is based off of a much better version from a 1960s advertisement I stumbled upon courtesy of one of my students. I copied the illustration in my sketchbook because I feel there is so much to learn from it....the lines, the expression, the spot color.... I'm simply fascinated with all things from this era...but especially the advertising illustrations.
This love, paired with a magnificent display of mid-century design and fantastic fashions make me a huge fan of AMC's Mad Men. I can't get enough of this show these days! It's delicious.

Oh, Mad Men is wonderful isn't it--we just finished watching the first season through netflix--of course now we'll have to wait until the second season comes out on dvd.
I love mid to early 1900s women's fashion! Every now and then, I will doodle a new fashion with those undertones. Oh, if only I could actually sew!
I love the old fashioned clothing patterns.
My friend and I loved Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights just for the clothing in it :) They're the most flattering style ever :) (I think)
Being a former ad exec myself, I have always been fascinated with that era. It was the heyday of advertising. The use of illustrations, rather than photos, was brilliant. (and I love 'Mad Men' too...)
Yup...love the 60s too. I was too young then to have truly cool clothes, but I've swiped some of my mom's outfits (she didn't have many left), and I've also bought patterns from Vintage Vogue that I will, some day when I have time, sew up to wear.
