I have a intense fear of birds...especially crowds of seagulls at the beach. I'm sure you can probably guess why...it has very little to do with getting eaten or anything like that.
Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this video on Illustrating Birds that I found over at Sheila's blog and decided to take a risk :) and share it here. Hope you enjoy.

Never trusted them Suzanne after seeing Hitchcock's take on the subject! :)
Thanks Suzanne, that was really interesting! (Pat of the voice over was a bit distracting though, putting emphasis in all the wrong places!) How wonderful, if you draw birds, to have all that reference material to hand!
Worth watching. I love to see how other's do it.... and with accuracy no less. Thanks for posting this.
WOW what beautiful work he does. I'm so grateful there are people like him in this world. Thanks Suzanne for putting it on your blog too.
Oh wow! Thanks for that!
I enjoyed learning the institutional side of the beauty... Thank you
We LOVE Cornell Lab of Ornithology! They have the best bird biology correspondence course, BTW, if anyone is interested. :)
I always get a bit annoyed when people say illustration isn't art, but since he's a geologist by trade, and does such gorgeous work, I'll forgive him. LOL!
Thanks for this Suzanne! Great look at his process...almost like an animation cell, with likework on one side and color on the other. Very intriguing.
