We're pleased to share that our work was awarded 1st place in the Downtown Greensboro holiday magazine cover competition. It is certainly nice to be recognized for doing something we love in a town we've grown very fond of.
If you're unfamiliar with Greensboro, the red awning across the street in this illustration belongs to what used to be Woolworth five-and-dime [currently the International Civil Rights Museum]. It was in this building that in 1960 four young black men, who refused to budge from a whites-only lunch counter, launched the civil rights sit-in movement, dramatically changing the course of history for the better.

Enchanting cover;love it- especially the large, faintly frosted snow crystal and the swirling gust of Christmas spirit! I've never been to Your city, but your illustration and post helps me feel familiar with it! Happy Thanksgiving, too!
Congratulations on your achievement! I've been following your blog for awhile now and enjoy looking at all the drawings you and your husband do. Always makes my day :)
Your amazing, but you already knew that! Congrats!!!!
Wonderful!! Congratulations!!! Brave high school students were some of the first to sit-in at the Woolworth downtown here and a statue has been erected outside of where it stood. What a good way to honor yours by making it into the museum.
There's such a happy, excited feel to your work. Makes me ready to get shopping and celebrating and cooking and decorating...maybe I will nap first on this chilly day.
