The most meditative thing I can do is draw on location.
It's the one thing that completely quiets my restless mind. Earlier in the week, after particularly long afternoon, I sat out in our driveway and drew our house. It's not exactly the same as the days when I'd spend hours in coffee shops or restaurants sketching---but it's close. Not to mention it's a good feeling to sit back and take note the ways in which our house has transformed into our home over the last four years.

Your home is so beautiful! And a couple years ago I went on a home tour of all the historic houses on Fort Bliss (the ones that all the high ranking soldiers live in). In the post commander's house they had a wall with little paintings of every house they lived in over the course of his Army career. It definitely inspired me to do the same; I think it's a wonderful way to remember everyplace you called home.

This reminds me that I have something in the works for Darling & Dear - house related that I've been meaning and meaning to get working on. This might have given me to push to get on that tonight!! :)

This sketch is so great! Drawing on location is definitely quite meditative. I also noticed the differences/similarities versus drawing in cafe's. I think it really depends on mood and emotions that day. Sometimes I can filter out the white noise in cafe's... other times all the difference chatter inspires my doodles :) Again, lovely post!
