shopping for inspiration?
I haven't been drawing this week. Actually, let me rephrase that, I haven't been drawing 'well' this week. Perhaps I have entered another creative slump, I don't know, but I feel rotten. I apologize to those of you who check in with me everyday for something new. 99% of the time I am up to the challenge, but this week I just haven't been my usual self.
I find some comfort in knowing that this is something everyone goes through and think, in some ways, it helps me to empathize with students who feel they can't draw. The experience of drawing is definitely different depending on how the final product turns out.
I know a lot of people find comfort in shopping. I, for one, am not a shopper....but, I said "what the hell" and tried it today to see if it would work. I bought two new shirts...and I think it helped a little. By the time I got out of the store, I was inspired enough to draw the mannequins in the window. Definitely not my best work...but hey, tomorrow is a new day and a new page in the sketchbook.

You sell yourself too short. I love the languid lines of these manequin drawings -- lately I have been so uptight that everything I draw ends up looking like the knot in my stomach feels...
Hope you're feeling better -- but just wanted you to know that I am continually awed and amazed by the amount of talent that resides in your hands/head... and am truly inspired by you!
Well, at least you'll be stylin' in your slump. : ) I know the feeling and I empathize.
