I'll admit that I would be a bit embarrassed sharing this point, if it weren't for the feeling that this is a universal affliction affecting otherwise content individuals worldwide. Uggghhhh.

You know, I never go out without makeup anymore. Granted, my sweet dh tells me I look great without (and Edgar probably says the same to you!)...but I don't believe him. :}
Oh, sigh. As I get older, I am somewhat more willing to look bad and go out sans make-up. On the other hand, the mirror is a daily reminder that my freaking face is aging. Today I went to Sephora and bought makeup primer. That's right, an additional layer to add to my face. (BTW, it's incredibly unfair to have reached the point in life where I have to deal with wrinkles and dry spots, and I STILL have to deal with zits and shiny spots, too.) Oh, groan.
P.S. I bet you look great w/o makeup and are being too hard on yourself. But, you're right that we all feel that way.
I go out without makeup almost all the time...'though I admit I do look more interesting with makeup...but at 50++ and dangerously close to 60..I realize that sadly I am invisble to (almost all of)the rest of the world.

Thank you all for your honest thoughts. I do think this is something even the most lighthearted of us struggle with at some point or another.
Leslie--You are NOT invisible to me.
i'll even put some on if i don't go out. blush and lip gloss brightens things up and makes me feel better.
