I don't think I'm quite finished with this drawing yet. Nor have I determined if what I have so far is cool or creepy. This is based on my 5th grade class photo (which I wish they continued doing until you graduate from college).
I was in shock to really examine the clothes of the people in my class and see how dated we all look. WOW. Am I that old? Embroidered sweatshirts, wind suits, floral jumpers, bolo ties (sorry to admit that's what I'm guilty of), M.C. Hammer pants....it's all more than I can take!

love this! It is a tad creepy but I enjoy it. I especially love that the people are anonymous but, the fashions are so apparent.
I love this! I'm about to graduate with a degree in metalsmithing, and most of my senior portfolio projects started out as "no face" line drawings from old family photos. I might be partial, but my vote is cool not creepy! :)
This is such a great idea! The in-thing for me was stirrup spandex pants. And yes, I had those floral jumpers, wind suits, and of course the embroidered sweaters.
Try white knee length boots and the covetable PVC 3/4 length black coat! Another great sketch.
1. i'm getting old! i was a freshman in college when you were a 5th grader.
2. i, too, sported a bolo tie. a few years before you did, to the homecoming dance my junior year of high school.
3. had to find a picture of myself in said bolo tie; in searching for that photo i discovered that in the late 80s/early 90s, i apparently wore the hell out of cardigan sweaters!! [yikes]

Well...I am about to date myself by admitting that when I was in 5th grade, it was 1977-1978. I was never really a person that was in style. Always finally catching on to something when it was about to go out. I don't recall entirely...perhaps I've blocked it out as a bad memory.

5th grade....circa 1985. I seem to recall parachute pants, all things neon and for some reason, I had a man's jacket with super padded shoulders.

i was in 5th grade exactly when you were i think (+/-1 year), and i HAD TO HAVE girbaud jeans and enormously over-sized hyper-color t-shirts...oh, yeah. i guess hyphenating was cool in the early 90s too :)
Ashley---I wasn't cool enough to get a over-sized hyper-color t-shirt, but I certainly wanted one!!!!
