One thing I really like about Amazon are the book recommendations. Wow, they really know me! When I bought Danny Gregory's book, they guy inside the computer at Amazon suggested that I also read Dan Price's "Radical Simplicity." How on earth did he know that this is my new mantra? Nevertheless, I have decided that simple is best for numerous reasons. The least of which is that it aids my overall health. The less complicated I can make my life, the less stressed I am, the less my health suffers...it is proven. I'm only about halfway through the book now, but there are so many quotes I want to share...many of them not even written by Price, but rather quoted from other sources. One of my favorites of these is the following:
"To live within limits. To want one thing. Or a few things very much and love them dearly. Cling to them, survey them from every angle. Become one with them--that is what makes the poet, the artist, the human being." -Johann Goethe
In the short time I have been keeping this blog and drawing on a daily basis I have really found this to be true. When you really start observing the world around you, noticing the details, the small things take on such a greater value.

I just got a package from Amazon on Saturday with "Everyday Matters" (finished that Monday), "52 Projects", "Moonlight Chronicles (started today)" (also by Dan Price) and "Radical Simplicity". Small world. Also working my way through "Creative License".
Have you tried Dan Price's "How to Make a Journal of your Life"? It's what got me thinking about visual journaling in the first place.
Heather-
That's crazy. We must have the exact same profile on Amazon! I haven't read "How to Make a Journal..." but I might just have to check it out. I read in one of your posts that you keep about 10 books going at a time. This is how I am too. I'm afraid my interest level surpases my reading speed.
lol, I forgot to mention that it sometimes takes months (or in some cases years) to get through everything. Sometimes I have to put something aside for a while. In fact I just picked "Mark Hampton: The Art of Friendship" by Duane Hampton back off my bookshelf and finally finished going through it. Beautiful interior, architectural and landscape watercolors - very inspiring.
One of my favorite quotes is: "Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have."
So true (about the details of life). I think having a blog helps too to focus on things that before may have just passed by unnoticed in the course of the day.
I love the quote! and your comments are right on.
Julie, Felicity and Jana- Thanks for your comments. I really like Everyday Matters is a big help in learning to appreciate the small things.
