panhandler scene: take two

This morning I had some time to kill so I wandered back downtown. As anticipated, I was approached by two people asking for money. I wonder if they can't guess by the fact that I am an 'artist' that I am probably 'starving' as well. Hmmm. Anyway, I sat across from the old Kress building, my favorite downtown architectural landmark. Like most other Kress stores, the building is art deco in style. The details are amazing. Unfortunately I wasn't close enough to capture this very well, but perhaps another day.

I've got to start carrying a greater variety of pens in my bag. I feel like this drawing would be more successful if the trees and bushes in the foreground had been drawn with a larger tip pen.

I like seeing what you come up with. Really great art. Yes I would try carrying different pens with you. At least that would give you options.

Maybe you need to have a little sign stating "Staving Artist" to put down by you while you sketch...

I think the "starving artist sign" is a great idea. Perhaps then I can be the one to collect the money :)

Great sketch and really interesting--lots to look at it. I'm glad you offer the larger version to see by clicking. I haven't tried using different pen widths in the same drawing. If you do another that way, please note that in the text--I'm interested to see how it turns out.

I've just wandered into your blog and loved all the sketches. It's actually inspiring me to sit down with my pencil after a long time.
It's really to great to see your talented works. I'll make it a habit of coming here more.
Best Wishes..
