you are not seeing double
Artists who do several studies of the same item always impress me. As I've said before, I don't have an abundance of patience, so this is something I rarely do. However, with a little extra time on my hands over the break I decided to take another stab at Kim's mug. This time I worked a little more slowly and tried to be very methodical as I applied the paint. While I don't see too much of a difference, I enjoyed giving it another try. I also worked on adding shadows, but they turned a bit too brown so I decided to fade them out in photoshop.

very nice drawings and paintings!! I draw everywhere I go too!! Love that little drawing you did on the PF Chang's card.
I really liked both versions, though I think you acquired even more exquisite texture the second time around. Beautiful.
(Not that it matters so much, but the previous comment was made by me, Karen, at Pen in Hand, not by my husband Carlo, who must've been using my computer earlier. )
Wow, I think this is beautiful, so rich and warm. Yum.
The colours look super on my monitor - purple with reddy brown, a favourite colour combination of mine! Great idea to do it again!
This is just gorgeous and so well done. WOW!
love the colors and textures on this version!
Thank you so much for your feedback!
This is great. I was trying to analyze exactly why it's better than the other (excellent, btw) sketches of the same subject, if I can be allowed an opinion; and I think for me the white highlights here really capture the glossy yet bumpy glaze of the cup. And you slowed down, visibly. I have to remind myself to slow down, and it always helps -- me anyway. Beautiful work.
This painting makes me want a hot, frothy, rich beverage of some kind. I love it!
I love this! It almost has a metallic quality whether you intended it or not.
I llike the looser feeling of this one. It looks like it has more washes added and you captured the reflection in the copper very well!
Beautiful!
