sleeping beauty/snoring beagle

As part of his new year's resolutions, Pokey has started taking two long walks every day to lose weight. For the most part, he really enjoys it as there are lots of things to sniff. However, by the time he gets home from his second walk, he's wiped out!

I LOVE your pencil drawings, Suzanne. You got Pokey's position perfect. The exhaustion is palpable!

Oh my this is such a beautiful sketch. I really liked your last pencil sketch too ( the shirt) but this is even lovlier because it's Pokey. How much weight is he intending to lose - if that's not too personal a question? And what pencils are you using - they look quite soft??

OMG! How cute! I am "mom" to three dogs -- 2 golden retrievers and a rescued border collie -- and they all look like this after one of our famous hour long walks (they're getting older, so it takes less to tucker them out now!). I feel guilty tonight for not taking them out, but it's about 3 degrees here in Chicago right now -- so we are snuggled inside. Hunkered down for the night. Hope you and Pokey are warm and cozy, too.

I am so glad you all like this one...I think it is one of my favorites too.

Thanks so much for your comments France and Cin. Gracias Alejandra!

Andrea- Pokey and I are both hoping to lose about 10 pounds. Let's hope all this walking, and dieting, pays off. It's hard because we both enjoy a good meal:)

I used a regular ol' number 2 pencil for this. It's funny, and I may write more about this later, but I feel that this is the first time that I have actually been able to see, for myself, what a pencil can do. I kept sharpening it, and utilizing the sides of the point to form a bit of a chisel. In addition, I have a new sketchbook with better quality paper and I think this helps too.

Lynn- Believe me, Pokey and I are indoors tonight...and definitely would be if it were 3 degrees!

You need a sketch book of just Pokey drawings. Pokey in the stew pot, Pokey taking a walk, etc. I see a whole book filled with drawings of this adorable, much loved pet. Then market it for sale.....
