The trip from North Carolina to Venice was a long one...28 hours to be exact. We had two layovers: 5 hours in New York, 5 hours in Prague. During the time spent on the plane, I do believe we ate nearly every hour on the hour. To be completely honest, this didn't really change that much once we were in Italy. Here's a sampling on my sketches from the journey overseas and a wrong bus stop.

Too bad my scanner doesn't like found objects nearly as much as I do.

I think Addie will like the fact that I posted her open mouth even less.

Fun! Can't wait to see more.
Incredible drawings, as always. I´m looking forward to seeing more of this! And welcome back!
these are fantastic, love everything I see in your blog!
I adore Venice and LOVE your style - with ink and watercolor washes. These were great - can't wait to see future installments. I was just reading an art magazine and one of the letters was a plea to the Editors to have one issue WITHOUT a painting of Venice. It is really sooooo beautiful.
Wonderful sketches, Suzanne, to commemorate a wonderful time.
Wonderful sketches, Suzanne! I like the inclusion of the "found" objects - the scan works really well with the airline ticket because your sketch seems to merge seamlessly with it.
Welcome back! Glad to see you had a good time - looking forward to more sketches!
I'm loving the sketches, Suzanne! Welcome back!
The first one in particular gets my attention -- loved how you mixed it all. And i think your crosshatching with the color on the last one (the green building) is gorgeous.
Oh I'm so excited you are back! Can't wait to hear all about your trip! Well done for getting any sketching done - I never do! But I do eat and eat and eat...
These are really great already. Love the top one and the green building. Welcome home!
Fabulous! Looks like you spend your time having a great time. Thanks for sharing your trip. Is there more to come?
Oh yes Deborah...there is much more to come. Stay tuned!
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome home. However, while there is "no place like home" there is also "no place like Italy."
Oh, these are wonderful! I'm looking forward to future installments!
Wow, that's an incredibly long trip! These are so much fun, Suzanne!! More, more!
Wow, what fantastic drawings and what a great blog. I hadn't seen your blog before, thanks for posting the link on the edm yahoo group! :)
I love your drawings!
the open mouth! worth it for just that, you've seem to have got exactly the way the muscles hang .. ho ho!
I like your notes and of course your drawing style is perfect for sketching people waiting at the airport. =)
