Ivo Kircheis, the first drawing assignment I gave my students this semester was to seek out the "biggest mess" they could find and draw it! For me, my purse is a really big mess...though, unfortunately, I didn't manage to focus on the inside the way I should have to reveal the true chaos.
Here's the sketch with the addition of marker.

That's fantastic Suzanne! What kind of markers do you use? I have prismacolors from college, but they bleed through in my sketchbooks. Not to mention that I can't finagle them with any expertise at all.
You are so amazingly talented! Really great drawing -- love it!
Fantastic!
I've never used markers, you make them look so tempting!
OK, it's a mess, but WHAT A CUTE PURSE! :-)
Oooh, fun. I had the same question as Karen - just curious - what markers and what paper? I'm using copic's, for work, on marker paper, but want to play with them in my sketch books. Guess I could just try them and see for myself, huh? ... But this is really great!
Karen and Wendee- I use Chartpak AD Marks. They bleed like crazy, but once you get used to working with them, this can be an advantage. This is a new sketchbook I'm using with thick paper...so while I can't use the reverse side of the page, it doesn't destroy the following one...
Uh...that would be "markers" not "marks." :)
This is wonderful, you make delicious sketches Suzanne!
Thank you for *link love*-ing my way :-) I'm honoured!
Can I lure you in to crocheting soon?:-)
Oh, the dreaded highly-toxic but oh-so-Juicy AD markers! Or maybe they changed their base solvent. Mmmm. Yep, should've guessed from photos from your Etsy site... Thanks for the artsy info. Going to see about how my markers work w/my current sketchbooks .... :)
That's a very neat mess you have there! ;)
Your bag looks wonderfully messy, both versions!

this is the Perfect kind of mess - contained! and thanks so much for sharing the link love. I had never seen Ivo's work - it's fabulous!!
Beautiful!
My favourite ever post of yours. Simple as that.
Oh, if only my purse could look as good! The markers really makes the sketch pop. Who knew a sketch could be so stunning!
Thanks for all your lovely comments!
Andrea- Thank you! I've had a really dry spell as of late, so this comment means a lot!
Heeeey Suzanne! You're right! We ARE on the same page. Funny, I was tempted to draw the mess in my sink too! Now THAT'S a mess! Oh, I love the bag ... the bag itself AND the drawing! The color adds a nice touch.
I love both -- in fact, i can't decide if i like the colorless one or the one with the marker. They're both so darn beautiful.
