in need of a second opinion

Seeing as how the bag I purchased back in the spring has turned from summer white to a shade of winter tan, I decided it was time to invest in a new purse. The only problem is that I've found two I like and do not know which one to keep and which one to return...so I'm turning to you. Which bag is the winner?

OPTION ONE : feels good, smells good, but I question whether this color can take me through the fall and winter seasons; lack of interior pockets may lead to further disorganization
OPTION TWO : the "leather" is somewhat questionable and I have some doubts about the quality of its construction; however, I like the structure and size of the bag; will hold a large sketchbook. Please vote. Its your civic duty :)

I vote yellow. I love colorful bags. (and I love to buy them, so I'd actually probably buy both, and switch back and forth).

Hard decision- I like the burst of color even (or maybe especially) in the winter but the second option looks more user friendly. Which one weighs less when empty? That's the one I'd go with. I'm going to see Isaac Mizrahi tonight = I'll ask him LOL.

# 1 because:
Yellow goes with alot more than you imagine
It is a nice shot of color in very dreary winter months

I go with 2 only because I know that 1 would quickly become a cesspool for me. But that's just me projecting my own chaos onto others.

:) The consensus here so far seems to be 1. :)

Oohhh. Pick 1. I have a yellow bag and I looove the way it looks when I wear it with red shoes, or with a green shirt.
And my solution for the vast inner section with no pockets is to use smaller bags inside. Like a small bag for pens and such and another small one for lotions. :) Actually, this whole situation reminds me of this:

Good luck!!

Lack of interior pockets is a deal breaker - the other has more structure - at least you can stack stuff side by side - that's organization (of a sort)!

#1 is the unexpected something special that could become your signature piece! Plus... yellow really does go with a lot more than we give it credit for -- especially if you were able to get a nice pair of gloves with some yellow in them or a yellow scarf to kind of tie all of the "exterior" accessories together...

Ooooh...I'm loving this. Keep the opinions coming!

I will vote for 2 because of its capacity to hold a sketchbook AND i find it crucial for a bag to stand on its own as opposed to slouch. I find it much easier to find something in it. The rigidity allows for things to stay somewhat in place.
Soooo... i'm with Ingrid here.

I vote for the second book. Being the carrier of sketch/idea books any purse that can hold one always wins my vote!

So do you want 'function' or 'form'? For an artist, I say go for the one with the pockets. I recently picked up a handwoven bag made by locals, designed by a pro, in Guatemala without a lining or pockets and although it's beautiful on the outside, the inside doesn't work for me, so it may end up being the sketchbook carrier.

Pick yellow! Go for it! Throw a smaller clutch-type bag in it for organizational purposes!

The practical side of me says #2, BUT, there are now fabulous little organizer bags that you can get to go into purse #1 (which is a lot cuter and nice and sunny for those dreary winter days).

In case I sound indecisive, I just want to say that if I were one buying a purse, I'd definitely go for #2.

definitely number two. you won't want to be wearing a yellow purse when it's getting near christmas.
an enchanted lurker!

I vote #2. Function wins out on me but find some funky pin/accessory type thing to add a splash of color. Then you can change it as whim demands!

that's just it said...

ok so this is coming from my girlfriend... She votes #2. more functional and can go with any season.

i was gonna say one, but what do i know? im a boy!

2! yellow is NOT a neutral and if its not organized, it will drive you crazy!

I always go for the flashy and impractical, so option 1 is my vote. I like the shape of it, too. I think you should have fun with your look, and you'd be surprised at how crafty you can be with organizing things. Plus the cheerful yellow color will carry you through to the warm spring days that lay ahead!

i vote for option #1...i love a yellow purse! love your drawings too by the way.

I love the buttery yellow bag. I know without pockets and compartments it will get a little like a "junk" drawer but it is lovely.

#1 is pretty wonderful but I'll have to pick #2 only cuz I have a large bag now and I can't find a damn thing in it. Forget trying to answer my cell phone in it! Go with 2, it will go with everything and dang, it holds a sketchbook for goodness sake. LOL. Ok, having said that, I like #1 better. Sometimes practicality goes out the door when you're faced with a gorgeous yellow bag! haha I'm not good at this kind of stuff AT ALL!

Well, I'm using a bag now that is total chaos inside but it looks great so I vote for #1 too - the colour is so uplifting for winter...but will you regret it?? #2 looks very practical (and nice) but does it make you feel good? They both make great drawings btw!

I recently saw a gorgeous yellow bag that looks a lot like the one you have there and I was too chicken to buy it! As a mom, I need a purse I can organize so I'd go with #2 but the girly-girl in me longs for #1. :)

Pick #2! I'm a sucker for "luggage tan."

oh the yellow one, yes!!!

i'm all about yellow right now - I'm hard-pressed to find a color it doesn't look good with. I have some yellow shoes that I wear with annnyytthingg..

My vote = option 1.

As a former professional organizer I feel like I "should" vote for #2. But I can't do that. I say go for #1. Give yellow a chance. It's the color of daffodils and butter post-its.

Choose the largest bag since I think you carry just about everything possible around with you.....correct????? How did I know that since I have never really met you?

KMidd said...

take a chance on the yellow! ok...its loud and bright, but everyone else is right..yellow goes with just about anything. Plus..your purse should reflect who you are..and you're very sunny yellow

OPTION 2

I like option 2 for the sketchbook-holding quality. I finally chose a $24 purse from Target that looks like big money and holds a sketchbook. It also holds cans of soup into work and a pair of flats if it's raining.

No pockets leads to chaos for me. : )

Mmmm I'd go both :) You can never have too many handbags!

Brown. Yellow will feel good for the first week. Then you'll start thinking about brown and wonder "what if?"

Suzanne,
This may not help coming from a person who LOVES bags..but, I think you should keep both..you never know, the one you return might be the one you wished you had kept!...plus, it never hurts to have more than one bag for the Fall/Winter =)

jax from the harmon squad said...

pssh, that's easy. keep both.

ale balanzario said...

I also like the option one. love the color and shape.

gotta say i'd go with number 2. mainly because i HAVE TO HAVE pockets ... i like them on the outside too. And, will the first fit over your coat? I'm an over-the-shoulder kind of girl. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Liz Brown said...

The yellow one, for sure! It makes a very bold statement, and what better way to have a splash of color than in accessories? And besides, doesn't every girl have a brown bag already?

Mekeel McBride said...

I had a bag exactly like the yellow one only it was turquoise and I loved it and it did hold a large sketchbook. But the handles came undone very quickly. So I vote for # 2. But I can see why you might like #1

Karen Sandstrom said...

Geez. This IS tough. I agree with all those who love the yellow, and the ladies who say it's more versatile than you think are correct. And the shape is perfect. HOWEVER, I, too, am deeply disturbed (well, y'know) by the lack of inner pockets. In the end, then I would have to choose Option 2, which will always look nice (if not killer cute, like the yellow bag.) Yes. Option 2. But I weep for Option 1.

rebecca said...

The YELLOW one! It has to be! The colour will lift your mood and it's bright and bold!

You can always add inner pockets yourself. That's what I seem to end up doing. Also, you can make the pockets the exact size you want them and really personalise the bag.

I vote #1 Yellow

Oh, I'm playing catch up, Suzanne. And, I'm certainly a little late to this party. Anyway, for me, it's the bottom one.
