the kindness of strangers new friends

I love the internet. I really do.

You see, my drawing students are in the middle of a two week assignment in which they are capturing scenes from their recent field trip in a large composite drawing. As one might expect, drawing Fallingwater has brought with it many questions about...drawing falling water. While I've been able to offer tips here and there, this is not my speciality. So in an effort to provide more info, I did a web search last night for examples of falling water I might share with them.

That's when I found the work of Ben O'Brien (aka Ben the Illustrator).

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, right?!?!

I immediately emailed Ben and his partner [and wife] Fi to see if I could use Ben's illustrations...which led to the idea of a guest post on our class blog ...which led to this!!!!! All in less than 24 hours, mind you.

How amazingly wonderful and generous...

Be sure to check out more of Ben and Fi's work here and here. Wow!

Most unusual use of colour - interesting - thanks.

Suzanne - this is so great. And I'll have to show it to my daughter, who has an art project that involves painting a wave. She was just bemoaning her lack of expertise in this area. Beautiful renderings.
