daddy

I drew this picture of my dad while I was home over Christmas. It's unusual for him to sit still, but here he was beginning to doze off. I struggled with this one, mainly because I haven't been drawing nearly as much lately. I hope that changes very soon! I miss my regular routine!

Wow, it's great. I'm thinking about New Year art goals - one is to draw more people. Yours are great - do you take life drawing classes? I find this is quite a poigniant drawing.

Hi Andrea- No, I haven't taken any life drawing classes in a while, but this is also a goal of mine for the new year.

It's funny how the subject (your dad dozing off) is rather peaceful, but your lines indicate a certain hurried quality ("is he going to wake up and move?"). To me it adds up to a humorous portrait, and i like it a lot.

Wonderful drawing! Don't you love it when people sit still for awhile!
