August 1983 : Same haircut.
We're going through some changes at school--changes that may mean I'll need to turn the page to the next chapter quicker than I had anticipated. But, as a wise friend reminded me, now is a perfect time to ask the question : 'What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?'

that may be because I took my snoring medicine! i guess that helped!
lol........ Suzanne no matter what happens, you also have each other and with a funny husband like yours. You can keep laughing has things change.
Blessings........
btw.. that is one sweet picture can i paint it?
What a sweet, sweet picture.
Been there!!! Sometimes as devastating as it can be to close one door, figuring out where the next door to open might be and where it's leading is kind of exciting, too. Hope all ends well - I can only imagine what you'd find next :)
Of course Dominique...I'd be honored!
Kelley--Yes you have! And look what came from it!!! It's outcomes like yours that keep me going!
You'll do it. Dream bold. And with that husband, who even takes his snoring medicine (gotta love a man like that), you can go full throttle for what you want. Feel the fear and do it anyway! (book title)
BTW, I'd build countless solar plants in (on?) Africa to help their economy and our need for clean energy, if I knew that I couldn't fail and while I was at it I'd make a movie with Quentin Tarantino and Karl Urban.... *sigh*
Good luck to you, Suzanne. And I can't wait to hear what you're going to do next. I'm going through changes and am being "reduced" from my job too. (Why do they call it a "reduction in forces". You'd think I worked for the army!) Haven't figured out yet what is next for me but I'm looking forward to finding out!
Best wishes to you, Suzanne!
Good luck Suzanne! I love this photo of you, and the caption. We must be close to the same age. I was 2 in August 1983.
Best photo caption ever.
you are so cute. why don't we sleep with our arms up like that as grown-ups? i'm sorry change is being thrust upon you. we can tell you it will all work out for the best, but that doesn't really help the strain, now.
if you're not sure what you want to be when you grow up, i would think back to what you did as that cute kid before the adults interfered. if it's what you do now, do it again someplace else. if not, explore the possibilities. i'd recommend this book, which is where i learned about that exercise. it's really good - http://tinyurl.com/yhvjgcs
in fact, i think i better read it again, myself.
xo, c
i forgot to include this incubus video, which speaks to this very feeling with illustrations - how perfect -

Cindy---I will be purchasing this book...for certain. And YES, the incubus video is perfect! I remember seeing it some time ago...but it definitely didn't strike the same chord as it does now. Wowzer.
Suzanne-This little photo reminds me to tell you that you were every bit as cute then as you are now. I am not liking what I hear about what's happening in your world. You are WAY TOO MOTIVATED AND TALENTED to not be successful in your next chapter in your career. I feel I know you and have not even met you. Good luck.
Thank you Terry---and the knowing without meeting feeling is mutual! You've been supportive from the start in this creative journey and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.
Just adorable.
Were you drawing back then Suzanne, or did it come later?
Jan---my mom tells me I started drawing at 18 months old...so I guess I was :)
Suzanne - Hoping the best for you! We can't always choose when and what adventures happen to us, but there's usually a good story that comes out of it all.
Sweet, almost like a doll...
